Dear reader,

Passing on an invitation from Bee Improvement for a conference call with NYS Apiculturist Paul Cappy.

Teleconference with Paul Cappy

The bee improvement team is organizing a conference call with the New York State Apiary Head Paul Cappy. The call is open to everyone, Paul is our states highest Honey Bee official, a beekeeper, and state inspector. The call will be centered around hive management, mites and winter preparations. Paul has some very insightful information based on his time with Michael Palmer and other successful breeders in NYS, as well as the lab people at USDA Beltsville and the bee informed partnership. We will be discussing aspects of hive management that reduce disease, as well as feeding, and timings. Varroa, varroa, varroa, we cannot stress the importance of treatment and timing enough. This is a great opportunity for everyone to gain some insight into Paul's position as head apiarist and his wealth of wisdom as we start rolling into the fall.

Hudson Valley Hives is a beekeeping group that  meets at the Olive Free Library on a monthly basis and discuss all things beekeeping. The meeting starts with a short seasonal appropriate presentation followed by general open discussion. It is very informal and we welcome anyone interested to participate. If you are just thinking about getting started in beekeeping, a new beekeeper, or a seasoned beekeeper, you will benefit from the group discussions.
