Dear reader,

Another beekeeping season rolls to an end.  I hope everyone is doing well and is wrapping up their winter preparations.   It will be an interesting winter for sure, especially with the late season outbreak of European Foul Brood that we have been discussion the last few meetings.   Fingers crossed and I hope everyone's hives make it through the winter.

Some personal business will keep me away from this months meeting,  but I am please to announce that Bill & Britta will be running this months meeting.   A big thank you to them :-)

If you have any topics, ideas, or questions, feel free to contact us at BeeGroup@HVHiives.com.

October 15th Meeting -

Annual Honey Challenge

It's time to showcase your 2018 honey rewards.  We'd love to have our members bring in some honey that they harvested this season to be judged in our Annual Honey Challenge. One member will be awarded "Best Honey of 2018".  As in previous years, all folks present at the meeting will get to sample all the entries and place a vote for their favorite.  We will tally up the votes and declare the winner.   Please bring a sample of your honey in an unmarked jar.

2019 Intro to Beekeeping

I have started the discussion with the library about dates for the 2019 Intro class.  Once dates are set I will forward to everyone to share with friends and family that may be interested.

Hudson Valley Hives is a beekeeping group that meets at the Olive Free Library on a monthly basis and discuss all things beekeeping. The meeting is driven by members questions and sharing experiences with the goal of spreading timely knowledge among fellow beekeepers. It is very informal and we welcome anyone interested to participate. If you are just thinking about getting started in beekeeping, a new beekeeper, or a seasoned beekeeper, you will benefit from the group discussions.  There is no membership fee. The Olive Free Library graciously provides a meeting place for our group and we encourage you to make a donation to the library if you find the BeeGroup helpful.
